      about the reverse bang

What is a 'Bang’? A Bang is a fandom event where creators (artists and writers) are paired together to create for a specific pairing or theme. In a typical bang, the writer submits and get started on their ideas, and the artist arrives a little later to claim which story they want to create for. Teams are announced and they work together to create a story and art to go along with it. All works are published in the same time frame at the conclusion of the event. What is a ‘Reverse Bang’? A Reverse Bang is literally that, a reverse of a Bang. For this event, the artists will get started earlier, with the writers coming in about a month behind. Artists will submit their ideas in summary form, which writers will look over and claim (an anonymous process). Then the writer will create a single work based on the artist’s vision. Publishing will still occur at the conclusion of the event. The artist is the creative lead! How do ‘claims’ work?Prompts will be compiled into a list for writers to preview. Once claims open, writers will be able to pick their top five (5) summaries. Afterwards, the mods will do their best to pair artists and writers accordingly. What is this ‘secret’/‘anonymous’ rule?‘Big bangs’ are iconic for the surprise factor of releasing a large amount of content all at once (or within a brief time frame)– think “fandom week meets secret Santa”!The anonymous rule is also a measure to prevent bias or influences on writers claiming prompts (i.e. claiming prompts based on friendship or popularity).Anonymity is not required to be kept between participants in the same roles (i.e. artists or writers).Who is able to participate, and which characters and pairings are eligible? This reverse bang is not-for-profit and will be open to participants of all skill levels. We ask that the primary focus is on Bakugou Katsuki & Midoriya Izuku. Both dynamics are welcome, of course! This is however a pro ship event, meaning that the mods will not attempt to censor any pieces. We do require that you tag them appropriately as some people are not comfortable with certain subject matter. That being said, we have decided not to allow minors to participate in this event for the reasoning above.Creator Guidelines- Artists will be required to create ONE new piece of art for the Reverse Bang. At a minimum, the piece must include full lineart and flat colour.- Writers will be required to write a minimum of 1,500 words for the Reverse Bang based on their paired artist’s piece.- All artworks and fanfiction MUST be new, unpublished, and unshared on any social media platforms.- All pieces are required to be your own. Art theft, plagiarism and the use of AI programs are all strictly prohibited.- There is no maximum requirement. Artists may fully render their pieces if they choose to and/or create as many pieces for their writer as they want. Writers can write as many words above 1.5k as they want.- If an artist/ writer decides that they want to put forth more effort, their partner is not expected to create more content to match them, and vice versa. For more information, head on over to our FAQ section. Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Reverse Bang?A reverse bang is an event where artists and writers are paired together to create collaborative works for a specific fandom, ship, or theme. The artist is the creative lead and will create their piece first, with a writer coming in halfway through the creation period to write a fanfic based on the artist’s vision.Artists will come up with their concepts, in the form of short summaries, and submit them with appropriate tags and content warnings. The summaries will be collected and anonymously listed for summary claims.Writers will then have limited time to rank their top summaries. The event's moderators then proceed to take into account various factors in order to create a team lineup. All participants will have to participate in regular check-ins with the mod team during the creation period to ensure that they are on pace to finish their pieces and are communicating with their partners. Can I sign up to be both an artist and a writer?Participants are welcome to be both an artist and writer, provided that they are able to effectively manage their time and keep their pairings secret. How old do I need to be to sign up?This event is pro-ship, therefore we are only welcoming anyone who is 18 and above at the time of registration to participate! Is there a criteria for participation? We welcome all interested participants, new or old to BkDkBk or content creation! Can we prompt/write explicit (NSFW) content? for sfw promptsYour submission must be tagged appropriately. Artists will be able to mark if they are okay with collaborating with NSFW content. Both parties must communicate and respect any boundaries. Is joining the Discord server mandatory? No, joining the discord server is not mandatory, as we will email all major updates. Please check your emails periodically throughout the event's duration. However, it is encouraged to join the server for regular posting updates, resources, and forms through this channel. When and where can I upload my submission? Please view the schedule for when public uploading is allowed! Hashtags and collections for the promotion of the bang's creations will be announced closer to our posting date. All posts must mention/credit your collaborator. Your post must link to your collaborator’s work (embedding in fics is also OK)!What are check-ins?Please view the schedule for check-in days.Check-ins are scheduled days for participants to report their progress. We have recommended stages of where your progress should be, but they are also for making sure you are still able to participate in the event. What if I miss a check-in?Check-ins are scheduled over a 2-day weekend to allow for some flexibility. If you have not checked in by the end of the weekend, we will reach out again. If you do not respond within 3 days, we will assume you have dropped out of the event.I signed up, but I don’t think I can participate anymore. What do I do?Please contact the mods as soon as possible! What content, pairings etc are allowed? This event is centered around the pairing of Bakugou Katsuki and Midoriya Izuku, in any dynamic. We will allow all sfw, nsfw and dead dove content as long as everything is sufficiently tagged.Additionally, artists and writers are welcome to include other pairings and/or polyamorous content. We ask that the dominant focus will be a relationship that includes Katsuki and Izuku. We will be allowing OT3s for this event, but we cannot guarantee that an OT3 prompt will be claimed. Background parings are OK, as long as BakuDeku/ DekuBaku is the main focus. Both parties must communicate and agree to any background pairings and/or OT3s.I don’t know if I can participate/I missed sign-ups. What do I do?In the case of writers dropping out of the event, we will open pinch-hitter applications (substitute writers who can fulfill a prompt in the middle of the event). What is the role of a Pinch Hitter and a Beta?A “pinch-hitter” is someone who can substitute for a participant who has dropped out, so no one is left unpaired. In this event, pinch-hitters are writers! If a creator decides to drop out, pinch hitters will be asked to join teams. Summaries will be given to pinch hitters on an as-needed basis, with no consequences for refusing to work on a summary they don't want to work on.If necessary pinch hitters will be granted extensions and extra time.Betas work as editors and proofreaders for teams who need them. Similar to writers, they are also asked to select summaries that interest them and collaborate with their teams as needed. What counts as ‘art’?Traditional and digital art (illustrative, comic, sequential) is allowed, as long as they can be a substantial prompt to tell a story! If you’re unsure if your submission would be a good fit for this event, please contact us.What doesn’t count as ‘art’?Images created with a generator (eg. picrew), or manipulation of art that is not your own.Can we submit more than one art prompt?Yes! Please make sure all of your prompts vary in concept.Comics/sequential art submissions will count as one (1) prompt. Please note that we will try our best to assign a writer to every artist. If the number of prompts exceeds the number of writers, it may not be guaranteed that more than one of your prompts will be filled.Does my submission need to be completed in time for prompt claims?Your submission does not need to be completed in time for prompt claims. However, it does need to show strong enough foundations for us to judge potential multi-claim eligibility, and for the benefit of the writer. Can I use an existing WIP as a submission?Out of respect for other participants, we ask that you do not use existing WIPs. All artwork for this event must be new!Can I create more art/ more words in collaboration with my assigned partner?Absolutely! What if my partner is interpreting my prompt “wrong”/wants to take it in a different direction? We encourage healthy brainstorming/discussion between participants. If you feel like both interpretations of the prompt are diverging, please communicate with your writer to reach a mutual agreement. We understand that your prompt/concept can be something personal, but please note that it is not the mods’ authority to police or enforce someone else’s interpretation. We will only ask that writers follow the nsfw dynamic request (if an artist makes it) and that they do not attempt to write something that is specifically on someone’s DNW listWhat if my prompt is unclaimed? In the unfortunate case of a prompt being unclaimed, you have the option of dropping out (and freeing your work from the event), or waiting for a pinch-hitter (although, this is also not guaranteed).I missed claims. What do I do?Claims are open for a week, or until all prompts are taken. Unfortunately, writers who miss claims are assumed to have dropped out of the event. You are still allowed to register as a pinch-hitter!Can I write for multiple prompts?Writers must make their assigned prompt a priority. Opportunities for additional claims may open later on.Do I need/can I have a beta reader?Beta readers are optional, but we do recommend you have one! You are allowed to use your own beta reader, or you may request from the other participants who are happy to beta read too.Beta readers must adhere to the ‘secrecy’ rule, and not leak any fic/artwork outside of the event. The requirements for all written works and art will be determined through our interest check and then reflected here. Can I join if I don't have an AO3 account and I mostly do twitter fics only?YES! Contributors don't need to be active on AO3 and contributions don’t have to be on AO3.Contributors can post their work as a thread fic with proper tags, with provided preview template from the team or their own if they wish to do so.Can I sign up for multiple roles (such as writer and artist, artist and beta, etc)?YES! Everybody is welcome to sign up for more than one role, as long as they can commit to both roles. All the specifics and responsibilities of the roles will be found in our Participant Guidebook which will be reflected here, at the end of our Interest Check. Will you be posting contributor's works or will contributors be allowed to post their own works with a designated @/ and hashtag? All contributors will be posting their own works during the posting period and the Bang's twitter will be retweeting to give the work visibility and love! What if I have other questions?Fear not, you can send us a message on our retrospring or directly message one of the mods with your query, and our staff will try our best to respond as quickly as possible!
